A man has suffered broken ribs and facial injuries after being chased and assaulted.

Police are now asking for help to identify the people in the CCTV images who they believe can help them in their investigations.

The incident happened on Fishergate in Preston at around 12.10am on Saturday November 11.

The victim and his friend were walking away from the city centre when outside WHSmith's the victim's friend was assaulted by two men.

It is believed two women were also present and witnessed this assault.

The victim then ran off but was chased by the two men and outside Primark he was then assaulted by both of the men.

He lost consciousness and suffered two broken ribs and serious facial injuries.

Police are now wanting to speak with the people in the images.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are asking for your help to identify suspects and witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Preston.

"It happened on Fishergate at approximately 12.10am on Saturday, November 11, when the victim and a friend were walking away from the city centre.

"Outside WHSmith, the man’s friend was assaulted by two men – two women were present who witnessed it.

"The victim ran off but was chased by the two men, and outside the Primark store he was assaulted by both of them.

"He lost consciousness and suffered two broken ribs and serious facial injuries.

"We are looking to identify the two men in the CCTV stills.

"Also, we want to trace the two women who were witnesses – we would like to stress that they are not suspected of being involved."
