Police have evacuated a school and put a cordon in place after reports a suspicious object was found.
Emergency services were called just before 11am to The Heights school in Burleigh Street, Burnley.

Pupils and staff were reportedly evacuated and police closed the surrounding roads and put a 100m cordon in place.

It is believed the bomb squad has also attended with the object being treated as a 'potential explosive'.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at 10.49am today to the Heights, Burleigh Street, Burnley, to a report of a suspicious object being found.
"Police and partner agencies are at the scene, with the object being treated as a potential explosive device.
"A 100m cordon has been put in place."
At 4pm, one ambulance, one fire engine, two police vans and two police cars remained in attendance.
