A woman and her children were “safeguarded” in school after she was approached by her estranged husband.

Blackburn Magistrates' Court was told Mohammed Akram was subject to a non-molestation order which he had already breached five times.

His wife said she was “very scared” when she saw him.

“He says he wants to talk but I don’t want to talk to him,” she told police.

Akram, 39, of Hollin Bank Court, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to breach of a non-molestation order.

He was jailed for 26 weeks and made subject to a restraining order for three years.

District Judge Alexandra Preston said having breached the order five times previously Akram was well aware of the restrictions it placed on him.

“You have flagrantly ignored the order of the court,” said District Judge Preston.

“This happened outside your children’s school and must have been frightening for them and your wife.”

Scott Parker, prosecuting, said school staff had called the police after seeing Akram and another man behaving suspiciously.

They then safeguarded his estranged wife and her children inside the school until the police arrived.

Graeme Parkinson, mitigating, said his client had problems with alcohol and drugs and that had been the cause of the break-up.
