An East Lancashire church is to host a topical discussion which will be broadcast live on the radio.

St Matthew’s church in Burnley will host BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions programme in December.

Any Questions is a topical discussion in which a panel of personalities from the world of politics, media and elsewhere are posed questions by the audience from a different location each week.

Fr Alex Frost, from the church, said: “St Matthew’s in Burnley has featured in numerous news items in recent years receiving coverage of their work during the pandemic and Cost of Living crisis.”

During lockdown, Fr Alex launched his own podcast called The God Cast, which has featured famous faces such as Eammon Holmes; and in 2022, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, donated £1,500 to the church to help provide Christmas presents to local children.

The radio show will be broadcast live from the church, in Harriet Street, on Friday December 8 and the event is open to the general public.

Doors will open around 6.30pm with last entrance being 7.15pm.

The church will then welcome the audience followed by the BBC’s warm-up at 7.30pm with the questioners being called to the front row at 7.45pm ready for the show to start after the news bulletin at 8pm.

The event will finish at 8.50pm.
