A woman was assaulted twice by her partner with one of the attacks captured on camera.

Blackburn magistrates heard one of the attacks had been caught on a neighbour’s CCTV and the other seen by an independent witness.

Ludlow-Tattersall, 29, of Culshaw Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault.

He was jailed for 20 weeks and ordered to pay £250 costs and a £150 victim surcharge on release.

Jackie Partington, prosecuting, said the witness to the first incident, a neighbour of the victim, was in the back room of her house when she heard shouting from outside.

She checked her CCTV and saw the defendant hit the victim to the head.

“She went to the front door and saw him grab her by the neck and hit her again to the head knocking her to the floor,” said Miss Partington.

Ten days later police received a 999 call about a distressed female trying to flag down passing cars.

“When officers arrived she was very tearful and upset but refused to make a statement,” said Miss Partington.

A witness said Ludlow-Tattersall came out of the house and approached the victim and she cowered in front of him.

“He swung his foot as if to kick her but the witness couldn’t say if the foot made contact,” said Miss Partington.

Mark Williams, defending, said that while he had been in custody awaiting sentence the defendant’s mother had died.

“They haven’t been able to make any funeral arrangements because it seems he is the only one who can apply for the funding to pay for the funeral,” said Mr Williams.

“He is desperate to get out of prison as soon as he can.”

He said Ludlow-Tattersall had already served eight weeks on remand.
