Train services on a busy East Lancashire route were severely disrupted due to emergency services dealing with a fatality on the tracks.
Trains between Blackburn and Burnley were disrupted until 5pm due to a fatality at Rishton station on Wednesday, November 1.
Disruption was been reported between the Blackburn and Rose Grove service at 1.40pm, where emergency services dealt with the incident.
The routes that were affected were between Blackburn and Headbolt, Blackpool North and York, and also between Preston and Colne.
All lines were closed and trains were cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes until approximately 5pm.
Disrupted services included Blackburn - Headbolt Lane, Blackpool North - York, and Preston - Colne, all in both directions.
Customers travelling from Blackpool North to York, in both directions, were advised to board alternative Northern or TransPennine Express services to Manchester and change in Manchester for onward connections to Blackpool North (via Bolton).
Ticket restrictions were lifted during this disruption that has now ended.
A representative from British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the tracks near Rishton Railway Station at 1.20pm today (1 November), following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner. "
