All train lines between Bolton and Blackburn are now back to normal after an earlier disruption due to a signalling fault.

Northern warned people about a fault with the signalling system between Bolton and Blackburn just after noon with Network Rail staff on site to try and rectify the fault.

The lines are now back to working order though.

At 1.47pm a Northern spokesperson said: "Disruption caused by a fault with the signalling system between Bolton and Blackburn has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem."

According to the Northern Railway website there was "severe disruption" between Manchester, Blackburn, and Clitheroe.
