UPDATE - The road has now fully re-opened.
A police update read: "We advised earlier this morning of an RTC on New Hall Hey Road in Rossendale. We can confirm the scene has been cleared and the road is fully open."
Police have closed a road following an early morning crash.
New Hall Hey Road near Rawtenstall in Rossendale is closed in both directions this morning (October 28) from the A682 to Holme Bank, due to a crash.
People are being asked to avoid the area while the incident is dealt with.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Good Morning, we are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on New Hall Hey Road in Rossendale.
"The road is currently closed in its entirety. Please avoid the area."
It is not clear at this stage how many vehicles are involved or if anyone has been seriously injured.
The police have been contacted for further comment.
