A Lancashire police officer accused of domestic assault is to face a misconduct hearing and could be dismissed from the force as a result.

PC Harling, whose collar number is 2525, will appear before the hearing, which is to be chaired by chief constable Chris Rowley, today (October 19).

The accelerated misconduct hearing will start at 9am at Ormskirk police station.

The hearing will debate whether PC Harling's alleged actions amount to gross misconduct.

If this is found proven by the panel, which includes the force's legal representatives, the officer will face punishment, which could include immediate dismissal.

PC Harling is alleged to have been involved in a domestic assault incident whilst off duty.

A notice of the misconduct hearing reads: "It is alleged by the appropriate authority that being a police officer with Lancashire Constabulary, Police Constable 2525 Harling has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour set out in Schedule 2 to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020.

"Police Constable 2525 Harling is alleged to have been involved in a domestic assault incident whilst off duty.

"The matters aforesaid amount to gross misconduct and to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour of Authority, Respect and Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct."
