Here’s a wonderfully atmospheric photograph taken around a century ago.
It shows taxis waiting for potential fares at Blackburn Boulevard in the early 1920s.
It was probably taken around Christmas given the strings of lights.
It looks as though it was taken looking from the station towards Railway Road with the cathedral on the left. Note the tram pulling into the Boulevard. On the left, highly illuminated, was possibly a snack bar which was in operation at the time.
