A whole host of spooky activities are taking place across Blackburn town centre this Halloween.

Blackburn BID is hosting the free pumpkin carving workshops on Saturday 28 October.

These will take place from 10.30am to 3.30pm on King William Street. There will also be two roaming spooky characters giving out Halloween treats on the day too.

Blackburn town centre BID Manager, Catherine Price said: “We had such incredible feedback from the people who attended last year’s event that we decided to run it again this year.

“The free workshops include everything you’ll need to create your very own masterpiece – including the pumpkin and carving tools. All you need to bring is your creativity. There’s no need to book – just turn up on the day and enjoy.

“We’d like to thank BID members Morrisons and Marks & Spencer for their support with the event, ensuring there’s enough pumpkins for everyone.”

The event also has sustainability in mind. The pulp will once again be offered to local charities, BID members and community groups to use in food and snacks. Last year one of the organisations to benefit was Blackburn BID member Nightsafe.

CEO of Nightsafe Jan Larkin said: “The pumpkin pulp was turned from a waste product into a delicious hot soup by our volunteers – which was thoroughly enjoyed by the young homeless people who access our services.”
