A brewery has been confirmed for an extended takeover at Preston’s Plau Gin & Beer House on Friargate this winter.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The Vaults area of the venue, which is located downstairs and recognised by the 40-foot well that was discovered during the extensive renovation of the building, will be serving some of the region’s favourite beers from Rivington Brewing Co from Friday, October 13 until the new year.

Rivington Brewing Co is a modern craft brewery and taproom on Horrobin Lane in Chorley, founded in 2014 in Rivington and known for its innovative styles.

Ben Stubbs, founder of Rivington Brewing Co, said: “We're mega excited to have a pop-up in the iconic Vaults at Plau over the Christmas period.

“We're looking forward to bringing a variety of styles, collaborations, events and beer launches to one the most unique bars in the country."

The owners of Plau are excited to see such highly-thought of operators in the Vaults area of their historic Friargate venue.

Rebecca Rowlands, who co-founded Plau Gin & Beer House and opened the venue in 2018, said: “We're incredibly pleased to have Rivington take over the Vaults this Autumn and Winter.

“To have one of the UK’s best breweries in what is believed to be the only surviving dram shop in the UK makes for a pretty special collaboration.

“Plau has won a national award and most recently pub of the year for Lancashire. The venue to me has a very special energy and, after Covid and the major city roadworks, we hope this news will attract people to Plau and the city centre.

"Preston Pub Festival was a great success and showed there’s a great beer scene in Preston, one we are very pleased to be a part of.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

The Vaults area of Plau will be open from midday until midnight from Friday until Sunday on the opening weekend running from October 13-15.

After that, it will be serving from Thursday to Sunday every week and mirror Plau's opening hours.
