A care home company which cares for elderly residents and their families at two homes across East Lancashire is celebrating 40 years of operation.

Dovehaven Care Homes, which has homes in Accrington and Clayton-le-Moors, as well as a further five across the rest of the county, will be holding a series of events across October to mark its anniversary.

To commemorate its milestone anniversary, Dovehaven is committing to carrying out 40 acts of kindness across the month.

The good deeds will come in all shapes and sizes and will be documented on the company’s social media pages.

It also has a jam-packed month of events ahead. Every Friday, the care team, residents, and support team of Dovehaven’s homes will be connecting via video call to join together in celebration to take part in activities such as Bonanza Birthday Bingo and a virtual cocktail party.

As well as this, the homes will be decorating their front doors, complete with a special 40th anniversary wreath.

Jenny Davies, Dovehaven chief executive, said: “I am extremely proud to lead the Dovehaven business, a business that has quality and care at the centre of everything we do.

"To work with owners and colleagues who have worked tirelessly to improve elderly care provision in the North West is an honour.

“Whilst we are taking this opportunity to celebrate our 40 years of history, we are also focused on building a positive future for Dovehaven; continuing to foster an environment where people are proud to work, and a high quality of care for all our residents is at the heart of what we do. Here’s to the next 40 years and beyond.”

Founders and owners Mark and Wendi Gilbert started Dovehaven Care Homes in 1983. Since then, it has grown to run more than 20 homes across the North West, providing residential, nursing, dementia, and specialist health care.

Mark said: “We have an amazing team at Dovehaven. We’ve built a team up over a number of years and we’re very proud of them and very proud of the care they deliver.”

Wendi added: “To every members of staff, every helper, every family member, a huge thank you to them all.”
