Heart Radio presenters Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts faced their fears and climbed 500 feet up Blackpool Tower this morning (October 2).

This was the first out of five Heart Breakfast’s Race Against Time challenges in aid of Heart’s charity, Global’s Make Some Noise.

The challenge kicked off this morning (October 2) during Heart Breakfast where a timer was set to five hours and the Britain’s Got Talent judge scaled the tower and pressed a red buzzer which stopped the clock.

Amanda and Ashley will continue to make their way through the challenges over the course of the week, racing against the clock before the end of their Heart Breakfast show on Friday October 6.

One of Britain’s best-loved landmarks, Blackpool Tower stands at a colossal 518 feet from the ground - more people have been to the moon than have touched Blackpool Tower flagpole.

After completing the challenge Amanda Holden said: “Jamie, I think I should tell you now, they dared me, they said ‘if you go up one more iron sort of curly bit more, we will have gone higher than anyone basically.’

"Wing commander Adam Collins from the Red Arrows, is the only person to have got as far as me, and now I’ve gone higher than him. So I’ve officially gone higher than anyone’s ever been! It honestly, I was absolutely terrified, my knees and legs went to jelly. You sort of learn to trust the equipment.

"I’ve never fainted in my life and when I got to the top, I suddenly thought ‘I’m going to here!’ Just donations, that’s all we need, this is for Global’s Make Some Noise, it’s honestly the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done in my life, and I’ve done it for all those small charities. If you can afford it this morning, please give what you can.”

Ashley said: “I’m so excited to be taking on these challenges in aid of Global’s Make Some Noise. We have no idea what we are in for next week, but I just know that each challenge will test Amanda and I physically and mentally.

“We want to raise as much money for these amazing charities who do such incredible work across the UK. Bring it on.”
