The Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) has released its Good Beer Guide and 120 pubs across Lancashire made the list - including some new additions.

The Good Beer Guide, which is published annually by CAMRA, helps beer lovers take a barometer of the local beer scene.

While some have been mentioned on the list for years, in Lancashire there are 25 new entries to the 2024 guide.

The Arden Inn in Accrington is one of the new additions, according to CAMRA.

We are a live music venue, known for our live entertainment and real ale and cider.

“It’s the place to come for a good night out.

“It’s a nice morale boost for staff.”

Other new additions include the Ale House in Clitheroe, Applejacks in Longridge, the Aspinall Arms in Great Mitton, the Boot Inn in Burnley, the Old Bridge Inn in Barrowford and the Loom and Shuttle in Darwen.

Other pubs in the 2024 edition have been mentioned in the guide in previous years, including The Black Bull in Darwen.

The pub also has a microbrewery, Three B’s Brewery, at the back of the pub.

Scott Bell, sales executive, said: “We are thrilled to be part of it again. We have been part of it for a few years now and we are pretty chuffed to be back in it.

“We sell fresh local beers that are enjoyed by thousands. We also deliver to a 50 mile radius and supply to various pubs and bars across Lancashire.

“We seem to be getting busier and busier.

“We have been coping well with the cost of living but have noticed the price of things increasing but we will just keep going.”

Bankers Draft in Barrowford is also back in the guide.

Landlady Tracey Holden said: “It is always great to be included in the Good Beer Guide. I work hard to source and serve some of the best real ales available.

“The inclusion recognises this and helps attract new customers.”

As well as covering 236 of the very best pubs across Cumbria, Lancashire and Isle of Man, the Good Beer Guide keeps track of brewery numbers and notes a net loss of three breweries across the county.

This year’s guide contains 910 newly featured pubs across the UK, which is a fantastic prospect for the pub trade which has been struggling to stay afloat in recent years following the pandemic and rising fuel costs.

CAMRA chairman Nik Antona said: “The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation’s pubs and breweries open and thriving.

"I’d encourage everyone to use this year’s guide to visit the very best pubs and breweries across the UK and support them for generations to come.”

The Good Beer Guide, which reviews over 4,500 pubs across the UK, is the definitive beer drinkers’ guide to the very best pints in a variety of styles of pubs to suit individual tastes. Compiled by thousands of independent volunteers, it helps identify significant trends and themes locally and nationally.
