A mum from Padiham has started up her own beauty and aesthetics business after she was made redundant in May.

Jade Stanley worked at a telecoms business for 15 months before the company made the difficult decision to make the 32-year-old redundant.

The Padiham mum-of-two children, aged three and nine, had been running social media for a digital marketing business, Digital Soda, founded by her boyfriend Daniel Moore, who had also been made redundant from his day job three months earlier.

After she lost her job, Jade was determined to start up a business of her own so she took out a loan to pay for a beauty course and launched Daintyface MUA and Aesthetics.

Speaking about her journey, Jade said: “My boyfriend and I always get to the point where we’re alright then something will happen like gas and electric going up or council tax.

“Our son had just got 30 hours of free childcare which relieved so much stress but then we got made redundant – there’s always something. So I just want to build a good life for my children.

“We never get to do anything for ourselves and we wanted to start our own businesses so we can go on holiday with the kids and not have to worry about work or being able to pay bills. I don’t want to be skint anymore so I saw this as an opportunity.

“I’ve always loved makeup as a hobby so I was so determined. I took out a loan and paid for the course. I was studying from morning to 8pm for a month and a half.

“I had to start from the very beginning and learn about physiology and the anatomy of the body. I did a foundation course and an advance course and qualified this month.

“I probably would have carried on in the office job and never would have started this business if I wasn’t made redundant so looking back, it definitely happened for the best.”

Safety is the main aspect of Jade’s business and has undergone advanced safety training. She has a full emergency kit in the salon to ensure she is well equipped and prepared.

Jade said: “I absolutely love it. I’m quite a people person anyway so chatting to different people and seeing their confidence grow is amazing.

“When I was 30 I decided to have my lips done and I felt so much better about myself so I wanted to be able to give people that same feeling and confidence.”
