Two men have been charged after a massive 17kg of cocaine was seized at a motorway service station.

Scott Chadwick-Greer, 30, and Stephen Buckley, 39, have been charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

Seventeen kilos of suspected cocaine was recovered from the vehicle with a value of around £1.36m.

Chadwick-Greer, of Oak Avenue, Thornton, and Buckley, of Lancaster Avenue, Thornton, appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning (September 23) and were remanded in custody.

The car was stopped at Tebay Services on the M6 in Cumbria on Thursday evening (September 21) and two men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Two women aged 35 and 31 were also arrested on suspicion of assiting an offender and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The motorway was closed for a short time while police dealt with the incident.
