A school in Lancaster has been closed for days due to electrical problems.

Central Lancaster High School, on Crag Road, closed on Wednesday, September 20 after a power cable was accidentally cut by a digger on the building site.

The school remained closed on Thursday, despite “the best efforts” to repair the issue.

Today (Friday, September 22), the school is only partially open to pupils in Year 7, 10 and 11. It is closed to those in Year 8 and 9.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A main power cable to the school has been accidentally cut by one of the diggers on the building site.

“This means that a significant proportion of school is without power and we are therefore unable to open.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused in terms of childcare due to this unavoidable closure.

“We have companies in school working to repair power to out new building and we are optimistic that we will be able to open to all pupils on Monday, September 25.

“As a result of the issues faced on the school site our open evening scheduled for Thursday, September 21, has been rescheduled to Thursday, September 28.
