Four people were taken to hospital following a crash in Preston last night (September 17).
Three of the people involved in the crash were trapped in their vehicles and had to be released by the fire service.
A road closure was in place on Guild Way while officers conducted an investigation into the crash between a Nissan Qashuai and a Vauxhall Astra van.
Police officers were called at around 9.40pm and the road reopened at around 2am today (September 18).
Police initially said nobody was seriously injured, though North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) have now confirmed three of the four suffered major-trauma injuries.
NWAS also confirmed four ambulances, one advanced paramedic, and one response car attended.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 9.40pm to reports of a collision between a car and a van.
"Fortunately nobody suffered serious injuries, however one person (a passenger in the car) was taken to hospital.
"The road was closed completely while collision investigators attended, but reopened at around 2am.
"If you witnessed this or have dashcam footage from around the city centre and out towards Guild Way in time before the collision call 101 quoting log 1249 of September 17."
A fire service spokesperson said: "Four fire appliances from Preston, Penwortham, and Bamber Bridge were called to a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on Guild Way, Preston.
"Three of the casualties were trapped in the vehicles and were released by firefighters before being handed over to the North West Ambulance Service.
"The fire service was in attendance for approximately one hour."
