Four women who have taken the wheel by running their father's family business are expanding by opening up a second branch.

Founded by Jeffrey Holland, Rossendale Vulcanising, in Stoneholme Road, Crawshawbooth, has specialised in major repairs of premium, mid-range and economy tyres for almost 50 years.

Jeffrey, 73, eventually decided to take a back seat and pass his business on to his four daughters to run as managers.

This week, the managers announced the upcoming opening of their new branch which will be based at the former Rossendale Tyre and Exhaust Centre in Bacup Road, Rawtenstall.

One of the driving forces behind the business is Nicole Holland, who has shared their excitement as the new branch opens.

She said: “We’ve been a long-established family run business for so long and it’s always busy so when we received the offer to open up at a new site we had to do it.

“The timing is right. We’ve been born and bred here, we’re local and we employ local people so we want to branch out and continue serving the community.”

Stephanie was the last of the sisters to join the business joining in 2017, while Nicole Holland has been working there for 20 years, Kimberley Holland for 14 years and Rachael Egan 10.

Rachael’s wife Luci has also been part of the business, as well as the sisters’ mum Vicky, so the business is made up of a strong female workforce.

The four sisters said: “We sometimes get guys coming in asking for the manager when we are.

"It’s a male heavy industry so women doing this kind of job isn’t really heard of but women really like us being here.

“The girls from the brownies club, just up the road and we had a load of the girls come in one evening and we showed them how to jack a car, so we do thrive off being a girl-run business.”

The family are aiming to open their new branch in Rawtenstall on Monday, September 11, which will offer car and van tyre repair services.

Nicole said: “We have an amazing team that work really hard to help us get where we are today and we couldn’t do it without them.”
