Three people have been arrested after a "good Samaritan" was robbed at knifepoint in broad daylight in Chorley.

The man had stopped to help a woman - who was in on the act - he saw in the middle of the road, before having his phone, wallet, and a small amount of loose change taken.

One of the attackers then punched the victim in the head before the offenders made off.

Police were called at around 5.20pm on Wednesday (August 30) to reports that a man had been driving along Chorley Old Road, Brindle, when he saw a woman in the middle of the road.

He stopped to ask if she needed assistance, at which point two men appeared with knives, demanding the man's valuables.

They took his phone while the woman leaned into the car and took his wallet and a small amount of loose change.

Following enquiries, three people were detained around one hour later.

A 40-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, both from Chorley, and a 41-year-old man from Preston, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have since been bailed.
