Two men have been charged after an investigation into a burglary that happened on a building site.

At 11.15pm on Tuesday (August 22), the police received reports of a break in on Halfpenny Lane in Longridge.

An Audi A3 potentially linked to the burglary was later spotted on the M6 heading towards Greater Manchester.

Officers from the Road Policing Unit, working with colleagues from Greater Manchester and the police helicopter, managed to arrest two men around an hour later.

After conducting further enquiries and consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, officers secured charges.

Wesley Robbins, 36, of no fixed address was charged with burglary and going equipped, and Marc Hope, 41, of Kingsley Street, Leigh, was charged with burglary, going equipped, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

They were both remanded to appear before Preston magistrates on Thursday (August 24).
