A video has shown the shocking moment a car wing mirror was punched off in Burnley.

Details shared on social media said the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, August 20, at around 1.45am.

In the post on NextDoor, it was said around 10 wing mirrors were damaged by two separate groups in Ruskin Street, Hind Street, and Colne Road in Burnley.

The video shows a white car parked at the side of the road before a male runs into the frame and punches the right wing mirror off before running away.

Police said they had received a report of damage to a vehicle in Colne Road that night, but were not aware of reports from elsewhere in the town.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “[There was] one report of damage to a vehicle on Colne Road that night, where the investigation has now been closed and the victim has been updated.

“The investigation has been closed pending any new lines of enquiry coming to light. The victim has been updated of this fact.

“We are not aware or have any reports of vehicle damage on Ruskin Street and Hind Street in Burnley for that night.

“We would of course encourage anyone who has been a victim of crime to contact us by calling us on 101 or reporting to us online.”
