Visitors to Blackpool Pleasure Beach were convinced that they saw singer songwriter Ed Sheeran last weekend – but was it the real deal or just a convincing lookalike?

He was accompanied by a number of security officers and was mobbed by excited fans requesting selfies and taking videos.

He was seen enjoying a day out on park, even receiving VIP treatment as he rode at the front on popular rides The Big One and ICON.

Guests were completely starstruck, convinced they saw the Thinking Out Loud singer making his way around the park, with many screaming in shock and surprise.

While he does bear a striking resemblance to the singer, he does not have Ed’s distinctive arm tattoos.

Andy Hygate, Operations Director at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said: “We’re lucky to have welcomed many famous faces to Pleasure Beach over the years, and it’s always great to see the guests’ reactions when a star comes to see us.

“We love it when our celebrities are up for the challenge of riding some of our most iconic rides and it was great to see the surprise on waiting guests’ faces in the station when Ed appeared to ride at the front of both ICON and The Big One.”

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been voted as the best theme park in the UK in new global awards, which have also named it as better than Disney’s worldwide locations.

It has come out on top in the new TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, which have named it the eighth best amusement park or water park in the whole world.
