A Darwen bar has reopened with a new tiki theme and it looks like paradise for people who love cocktails.
The Taps Bar on Railway Road closed at the end of July where it underwent a rebrand and refurbishment.
It reopened on Friday (August 11) as Tiki Taps and also returned to the management of management company Darwen Bars and Leisure, which is owned by Sarah and Gary Perkins.
It is now a tiki bar, which is a style of bar known for its rum-based cocktails and tropical aesthetic.
Sarah Perkins, manager of Tiki Taps, said the pub still has the same ethos and charm as The Taps Bar but with more tropical flare.
She saie: “The Taps Bar before was open for around six or seven years.
“For around 12 months we leased it out to another business owner but this didn’t work out.
“We have decided to bring it back into our management company and reopen it as a tiki bar.
“We wanted to still keep it like the old site. That bar is like our baby as it was the first one we opened.
“We wanted to keep some of that Taps charm and also give it a bit of a tiki rebrand as well.”
Sarah wanted to bring something different to Darwen.
She said: “We were just brainstorming ideas and when ‘Tiki Taps’ was mentioned I just fell in love with the idea.
“While there are some quirky cocktail bars in the area, there isn’t a tiki bar.
“I thought it would be perfect and bring something exotic and different to the town.”
The bar has a new cocktail menu with pina coladas, mai tais, tiki volcano and nine other flavours on the menu.
Customers can also enjoy a newly decorated bar with bamboo, masks and other tiki-themed décor around the site.
Sarah said: “We have a really good tiki cocktail menu with plenty of rum-based drinks new tiki themed glasses,
“Inside it looks completely different with lots of bamboo and tiki parasols and masks.”
Since posting the announcement on Facebook it has received a positive reaction from customers.
“Since we announced this on Facebook the post has ‘blown up’,” Sarah said.
“Everyone is really happy that it is back under our management. They all seem really excited.
“I am nervous and tired but I can’t wait to get started.”
