The school summer holidays have landed meaning six whole weeks of trying to keep the family occupied.

If you have not got a break away booked and fancy enjoying the great outdoors, there is still time to arrange a camping trip. Or why not push the boat out and book a glamping spot?

Here are the five best camping and glamping sites in and around Lancashire:

Stanley Villa Farm Fishing and Camping, Greenhalgh, near Preston

Lancashire Telegraph:

This family-run site is made up of several camping pods for a warm and comfortable camping experience.

Last year, it won a Lancashire Tourism Award and was named Camping, Glamping & Holiday Park of the Year – making it one of the best holiday accomodation sites in Lancashire.

It has a lakeside location and each pod has its own firepit to gather around in the evening.

You can even purchase fishing tickets to fish in the lake. If you fancy a drive out, this camping spot is just 15 minutes away from Blackpool.

Holgates Silverdale Holiday Park

This camping site is just south of the Lake District in the area of Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This camping spot accommodates campers, glampers and static vehicle owners.

The park has a café and bar as well as a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi for people to enjoy.

Ribble Valley Retreat, Langho

This camping spot has two Shepherd’s huts and three luxury bell tents to book for a more glamorous camping experience.

The Shepherd’s huts are open all year around.

This camping spot is ideally located to explore the stunning Lancashire countryside.

Clitheroe Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Also situated in the Ribble Valley, this camping site welcomes campers and their tents but also caravans.

The location makes it perfect for fishing and canoeing on the river and the town of Clitheroe is just over a mile away from the campsite.

There are a range of pitches available for your specific needs and pets are welcome.

Docker Holiday Park, Carnforth

This rural retreat in Carnforth is ideal for those wanting to take some country walks.

The holiday park is just a short drive or cycle ride away from the city of Lancaster, so you have the city and the countryside both nearby.

If you time it right, you might even see the Flying Scotsman during your trip, as the site is situated close to a quiet train line which the famous train has been known to pass through.
