Police say they are "carrying out enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation" after a large emergency service presence was spotted at an old mill.
This afternoon (Friday July 7), five police cars and two vans, underwater search teams and the ambulance service were spotted close to Rishton Paper Mill on Blackburn Road. It is believed they are still in attendance.
Speculation has arisen as to the nature of the incident but it is thought that one person has gotten into trouble in the water.
