Organisers of the Rossendale Kite Festival have unveiled details of their series of weekend events.

The festival which is organised by Rossendale Leisure Trust in association with The Northern Kite Group, is held on the fields at the Adrenaline Centre, Helmshore Road, Haslingden, on Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2.

The Northern Kite Group has been in existence since 1978 and attends kite festivals in the UK and abroad.

In Rossendale, the kite festival has been going for more than 20 years. Professional kite flyers will be showcasing their skills and there will be rides and food stalls inside the Adrenaline Centre.

Facility operations manager, Ross McCowan, said: “The festival is on from 10am to 4pm both days and last year, as I was driving to the festival, I could see the kits flying from the M66.

“We are looking forward to some great weather, fingers’ crossed, and all the kite flyers are very professional, it is a fantastic and very safe event with the kites properly tethered.

“For Rossendale, this is a really nice community event and there are lots of other family activities, with Grip and Go, laser tag and roller skating in the Adrenaline Centre and even more children’s rides and local vendors outside.”

Access to the site is free, but parking at the Adrenaline Centre will be £2.
