A man has launched a charity clothing brand for his mother, who died of cancer last year.

Jack Brooks, from Clitheroe, is selling t-shirts through his clothing brand CSB Clothing which he officially set up around May.

The brand was launched in honour of his late West Bradford mum, Christine Brooks, who died last July after being diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2015.

All profits from the clothing sold will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Jack said: “My mum was diagnosed with cancer back in 2015 and was never the same since.

“I watched her deteriorate throughout the years. Unfortunately, cancer won the battle last summer. She was my world and this is for her.

“CSB is for our Christine and everyone who has lost their battle along the way.

“I have invested my own money in this to get it going and then once it takes off we can start to put some significant money towards cancer research.”

While it was initially launched in memory of Christine, the brand also raises awareness of cervical cancer. Jack wants to build the brand’s name to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

He said: “I wanted something unique and different to the usual fundraisers and sponsored challenges. This way people can get something in return for making a donation.

“If you like the look of the t-shirt you know the money is going to a good cause.

“The brand is keeping my mum’s memory alive, which is one of the main reasons I set it up.

“However, I have a long-term goal and want to build up the brand in order to get some significant charity donations for Cancer Research.”

Jack, who shaved his hair off in 2018 and raised more than £2,000 for MacMillan, says his mum would be proud of him for launching the brand.

He said: “I think she will be proud of me for creating this – but maybe tell me not to make such a fuss [of her].

“She would be proud of the fact that I am doing something for charity and making a change.

“I have shaved my hair for charity and she was so proud of me for raising money for charity then.

“We are hoping to expand the brand in the future so we can do more frequent and larger drops in the future.”

This is CSB Clothing’s second ‘clothing drop’. Good quality stylish t-shirts, which come in a selection of colours and are emblazoned with a ‘CSB’ logo, are currently for sale for £25.

Christine battled cancer for seven years. In December 2019 she was told she only had weeks to live but defied the odds and surprised medical experts with her fight for live, living a further two-and-a-half years.
