Blackburn town centre was turned into a celebration of music, dance and colour as hundreds took part in the annual Pride festival.
The event which is only its second year attracted people from across the borough.
Festivities began at the bus station just after 11am with people coming dressed in an array of costumes and carrying their own personal versions of the rainbow flag, which has come to signify Pride events across the world.
Among those in the parade were members of the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, Lancashire police, the Typhoons rugby team and Blackburn with Darwen deputy mayor, Cllr Sylvia Liddle.
Crowds were joined by members of the Blowjangles band who led the parade through town centre.
The parade began at noon and made its way past the market and on to Darwen Street. It then headed back into town and past the former Chippery. Along the way the crowds swelled as more and more people were welcomed on to the parade.
A classic open top car with event host "Tinker Paradise" led the parade towards the front of the town hall where a stage and festival area had been set up featuring dozens of small stalls.
"Tinker Paradise", otherwise known as Michael Mahon, works as a supported housing coordinator for event sponsor Together Housing.
As well as arts and crafts stalls, smaller charities had been keen to support the event.
As festivities began on stage organisers thanked attendees and volunteers who had made the event possible and also asked people to remember the victims of the Nottingham attack which left three innocent people dead.
The festival ran throughout the day and was headlined by Ugly Club and Beth Blade and the Beautiful Disasters.
The parade and concert took place in Blackburn town centre and was organised by the Blackburn Pride Committee.
Cllr Jim Shorrock said he was delighted with the turn out and admitted being a little worried at first.
He said: “It was absolutely fantastic. I was bit concerned about the turnout earlier on but everybody came at the last minute and I am very impressed.
“It is great to see the good people of Blackburn with Darwen come together for such a great event.
“It is nice for people to come out and take advantage of the glorious weather we have had.
“We have also had a good cross-section of support from local groups and organisations including all the charities. Everyone has embraced the day.”
Cllr Shorrock praised volunteers and members of the event committee too.
He added: “They have worked tremendously hard for the last six months.
“It can be stressful at times like any event is but when it all works out and like a day like today and that hard work is paid in dividends.”
