A dispersal order is set to come into force in part of Rossendale today (June 8).
From 4pm a dispersal order will come into force across the Edgeside area for an initial 48 hours.
This means that officers are able to direct a person to leave an outlined area if they suspect they are likely to involve themselves in anti-social behaviour.
This is after the anti-social behaviour reports involving youths on Wednesday night (June 7).
A police spokesperson said: “Following on from reports last night that youths were involved in disorder in the Edgeside area a dispersal order under Section 34 of the anti-social behaviour, crime and policing act 2014 will be in effect from 4pm tonight for an initial period of 48 hours.
“This order means that officers are able to direct a person to leave the area outlined by the map if they suspect they are likely to involve themselves in anti-social behaviour. Failure to comply with the request is a criminal offence.
“Additional resources will also be on patrol in the area.”
