Police are now appealing for information following a report of alleged attempted car jacking.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Monday morning in Blackburn Road, Rishton.

A passer-by who witnessed the incident said that between 8.30am and 9am on June 5, three men in their early 20s tried to hijack a car in Blackburn Road, close to Rishton Cricket Club.

It is believed a woman and a younger girl were in the car at the time but fortunately the doors were locked and the woman was able to drive off.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said on Wednesday: "We were called at around 8.55am on Monday (June 5) to reports three men had approached a woman in a vehicle as she was in traffic.

"They have attempted to open her car doors but she has driven off.

"We’ve carried out enquiries and are asking anybody with information to get in touch on 101, quoting log 412 of June 5."
