A Rishton primary school student has received an award from the Diocese of Salford for work in his community.
Harvey, from St Charles RC Primary School, was awarded the Caritas Social Teaching Award after he offered his support to people accessing a foodbank in Clayton-le-Moors.
John Grogan, manager of Park View Resource Centre where Harvey helped out, said in an email to the school: “What an absolutely charming young person Harvey is, a fantastic representation he is to the school.
“He has been polite, considerate, helpful, and kind to some of the most vulnerable individuals within our local communities.”
Harvey was given the award at a school assembly with his parents present.
Headteacher, Patrick Kennedy said: “It was heart-warming to receive an email of this nature about a pupil at our school.
“Harvey is an amazing young man and deserved of this praise and the award.
We try incredibly hard to instil our school values into all of our pupils and when we receive news like this, it can’t help but put a smile on your face.”
His mother Julie is ‘beyond proud’ of her son for winning the award that is about applying people’s faith in a practical way.
