Plans for four glamping pods with en suite bathrooms and parking have been submitted for approval.

Jason Chipchase wants to site the pods at Parson Lee Farm, Wycoller Road, Trawden, so guests can come and stay overnight and access the nearby Wycoller Country Park.

The application was submitted to Pendle Council on May 19 but is an evolution of a lapsed approved application submitted, with a decision date of October 2017.

The proposals within the new application will be situated in the same field as the previous approved application.

A planning statement reads: “Within this current proposal the applicants wish to upgrade the camping pods from the previous application to include ensuites.

“The pods will be slightly larger in size to accommodate the ensuites and a slightly different appearance, but will remain timber clad and portable. The pods will be re-sited within the field, to allow more space and landscape between them.

“The original approved application sees the pods set closely together in a row, however this new application spreads the pods out across the field, some at a lower topography than previous, and with space between for planting.

“The accommodation offering at Parson Lee Farm will differ from anything else in the surrounding area in terms of quality and type providing a glamping experience that is high-end and focussed on the outdoors, therefore complementing the existing provision and improving tourism spend in the area.

“In terms of existing visitor accommodation there appears to be very little glamping on offer besides a small number of pods and bell tents, mainly clustered around Trawden village and some in Wycoller.

“The proposals at Parson Lee Farm are small scale, and largely in keeping with a previous approval, they are coupled with a strong landscape strategy to reinforce landscape character and are natural in colour.”

It is proposed for the site to be accessed via the existing route along Keighley Road which is an adopted highway with passing spaces.

There will be four parking bays provided on site for guests with an additional bay for visitors and staff.

There will be one electrical vehicle charging unit to be utilised by visitors.

The applicants will also be providing a pick up and drop off service from local transport connections to allow guests to arrive without a car on public transport, if they wish to do so.

The planning statement went on: “It is therefore concluded that the proposals for pods, whilst being slightly larger than the previous application which was approved, will provide a development that is sensitive to the environment, and is more in keeping with the landscape setting, due to the addition of tree planting and wider spacing of the units, and provides an additional and new type and quality of accommodation in the heart of Wycoller Country Park.”

Anyone wishing to comment on the plans has until June 9 to do so.
