A takeaway chain, that sells rotisserie chicken and other roast meat joints, is opening a branch in Lancaster.

Roast will open its fifth UK branch in St Nicholas Arcades once the refurbishment of the venue is complete, creating 17 new jobs for the area.

It is not yet know when exactly it will open but more details will be announced closer to the time.

Roast is a ‘food to go’ store and serves hot rotisserie chickens, pork joints, ham shanks and gammon joints.

It also serves cooked breakfasts with locally sourced bacon and own recipe sausage rings.

The lunch menu includes hand breaded chicken, hot toasted baguettes, flavoured chicken chunks and ‘Myroast box meals’.

At weekends roast dinners will be available and includes any roast joint, seasoned roast potato, Yorkshire puddings, gravy and stuffing.

A spokesperson for the business said: “We are super excited to be a part of the Lancaster community and can’t wait to settle in.

“We have had our eyes on Lancaster for a while and are looking forward to getting super involved with the city’s community events.

"We have hired local people to fill 17 vacancies within our store.

"We will also be available to order food through Justeat and Ubereats so we can service the community and students if they don't fancy venturing out."

It is not the only branch in the region, with others in Preston, Liverpool, Birkenhead and Birchwood.

A spokesperson said: “We started trading in 2018 and have expanded quite quickly. We have a 'family feel' environment to the workplace and like to really carry that through regardless of how many stores we have.

“We feed the homeless from our Preston store every Christmas and deliver Christmas dinners to the emergency services.”

Dean Yates, the owner, said: “We are going back to basics as a business and we want every customer to feel those three things after visiting our shops.

“We really want to put the focus on excellent customer service and delicious. affordable food, cooked to perfection.”
