A fire caused by an e-scooter’s battery tore through an Accrington home.
At around 9.40am this morning (May 15), three fire engines from Hyndburn and Blackburn were rushed to the scene of a fire on Exchange Street.
The fire involved the ground floor of a home and the fire service say the house is now uninhabitable as a result of the damage. Luckily, no one suffered any injuries.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze and crews were in attendance for around two hours.
The fire service has issued a warning to “never charge lithium-ion batteries on your escape route” as the number of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries has increased in recent years.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Three fire engines from Hyndburn and Blackburn attended an incident on Exchange Street in Accrington.
“The fire involved the ground floor of a domestic property and firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
“Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours.”
