Residents have shared their excitement over a new sandwich shop opening in Accrington.
The Hungry Hedgehog on Whalley Road, which is where the sandwich shop Savouries used to be, opened its doors on Friday, May 5.
Full English breakfasts, breakfast sandwiches, burgers, kebabs, and pies are just some of the tasty items on the menu.
The menu also includes a salad box with the option to add fillings and meat of your choice or for those who fancy something sweet, the menu offers a selection of baked goods.
Writing on The Hungry Hedgehog Facebook page on May 4, the owner said: “Exciting news!!! The Hungry Hedgehog sandwich shop is opening tomorrow Friday 5th!
“We are located on Whalley Rd across from the Grey Horse Pub.
“We have some fantastic food waiting for you all so give us a try. In the meantime here is a sneaky peek of the shop and we hope to see you soon.”
The sandwich shop is open on weekdays from 8am to 1.30pm, 9am to 1pm on Saturdays and 9am to 12pm on Sundays. On match days, the shop is open until late.
At the moment, the shop doesn’t do deliveries but will be available to order from JustEat in a couple of weeks.
Responding to the exciting announcement of a new business opening in Accrington, one resident said: “Good luck guys, done a fab job with the place. It looks fantastic.”
One woman said they “can’t wait to try on Saturday” with another person adding they were looking forward to “popping in for a bacon butty.”
The Hungry Hedgehog is the second sandwich shop to arrive in Accrington this month and there seems to be a new trend with the deli cafe business.
Last month, The Hungry Fox sandwich shop announced it would be opening on Abbey Street, Accrington on Tuesday, May 9.
Owner, Paul Fox, who already owns The Crafty Fox bar on the same street, said the area is in need of a sandwich shop and deli.
Speaking about the opening of his new business in a previous story for the Lancashire Telegraph, Paul said: “I love having businesses in the town and think one day it will thrive again.
“Hopefully, in five years’ time the street will be nice and busy with plenty of shops cafes, bars and restaurants.”
