The roof has been restored on town centre a building which was once home to a famous Blackburn snooker club.
Work had halted at the site for several months but is now moving at a brisk pace.
In recent weeks workers could be seen restoring the roof to the old John’s Snooker and Pool Bar based in Clayton Street, which was destroyed in a major fire in March 2020 just days before the first lockdown.
The blaze affected a large section of the building and led to the roof collapsing.
In September 2021 contractors had began to clear the site. Earlier this year interior metal girders were erected during the first stages of the re-building of one of the town’s most iconic structures.
The John’s Snooker Club sign remains in place for the time being. One of the most ambitious town centre projects in the town centre the building is set to be restored in the coming year with plans that it could be a major hospitality venue.
John’s Snooker Club hosted some of the most famous faces in the sport throughout the 1980s and 1990s. It closed more than a decade ago and had remained abandoned ever since.
The fire last year destroyed much of the structure but the outer walls and iconic front of the building remained standing.
