TWO councillors have publicly hailed Burnley Football Club's success in returning to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The borough's leader Cllr Afrasiab Anwar and retiring Daneshouse with Stoneyholme's Cllr Lord Wajid Khan highlighted The Clarets' promotion from the Championship at the authority's full council meeting on Thursday night.
Lord Khan said: "I couldn't be leaving this council chamber at a more befitting time.
"In the Holy Month of Ramadan Burnley have been promoted to the Premier League.
Cllr Anwar: "I am sure all members would like to congratulate Burnley Football Club in gaining promotion back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.
"This is an amazing achievement and an inspiration to everyone in the borough.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the club for hosting the first community iftar (fast-breaking meal in Ramadan) at Turf Moor on April 4 2023.
"It was a great event and the club have committed to future events."
