A family has been left living in fear after two brick attacks on their home in a week.

Yobs smashed the first of two windows at the house in Windermere Close, Blackburn, at 10.30pm, when a half-brick missed hitting a 21-year-old woman by seconds.

The Khan family were putting the incident down to random bad luck when another downstairs room was targeted at the same time just days later.

Following the two attacks - on Monday, June 9, and the following Thursday - the windows of two front rooms at the terraced house are boarded up and the family is terrified the same thing could happening again.

Mrs Khan, who declined to give her first name, said: "The first time, we had just started having our dinner when boom - it hit and the double-glazed window just exploded.

"The half brick landed in the middle of the room.

"It's a really small room and the window is quite low. The brick would have hit my 21-year-old cousin on the head, had she still been sitting by the window.

"She had got up and gone into the kitchen just seconds before. It was very fright-ening, but we assumed it was a one-off and had the window boarded up.

"On Thursday, me, my son and daughter were going to sit in the room with the boarded-up window but we changed our minds.

"We went into the other room to watch TV instead.

"When a brick came through the window there, we couldn't believe it was happening again. We were very afraid.

"I am very concerned it will happen a third time and I want to know why it is happening. We are terrified just to sit in our home.

"It's dreadful and my children are very scared.

"A brick coming through the window is so dangerous and we are just waiting for it to happen again.

"I just want to feel safe in my own home but I honestly think it will happen again."

A police spokeswoman appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

She said: "These were very traumatic incidents for the family involved."
