A heartbroken wife has paid an emotional tribute to her husband who died aged just 34 on the day of their second wedding anniversary.

Caolon 'Kal' Donahue died on Monday, April 12 at home in Westhoughton with his family by his side.

He had been diagnosed with bowel cancer just a year after getting married.

His wife, Kerrie said they had the 'perfect' wedding, with their three children by their side in April 2021.

She said: "We miss him so much, our lives will never be the same again. I will love him always and forever, my beautiful husband.”

Kal, was well-known throughout Westhoughton, and tributes have been pouring in since the sad announcement was made.

A barber by profession, he set up Kals Barbers in Market Street, Westhoughton.

Kerrie said: "Our hearts are completely broken, Kal was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without him and his infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes.

“Thank you to all the nurses who have supported him in his care throughout, he fought till the very end.

“I’ll be forever proud of him, love you forever my soul mate.”

Kal was  diagnosed with the cancer after collapsing in A&E after going in with an excruciating migraine.

Doctors found a tumour in Kal’s bowels which had spread to his liver and lungs.

Family and friends in Westhoughton supported Kal through his illness, including his brother-in-law Pete Ball running five marathons in five days and a woman shaving her head.

Kerrie said: “I just want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to each and every one for your kind words and support to our family during this very difficult time.

“It gives us so much comfort knowing how loved he was and how he was held in such high regards within our community.

A funeral date will be announced by the family.
