POLICE have warned home owners to secure their houses after three burglaries took place in one day in Colne.

The warning was issued after three homes were burgled on Saturday, June 7.

Police said the burglaries may be connected.

An Acer laptop worth £1,000 and a Sony Ericcsson phone worth £1,000 were stolen when a ground floor flat in Church Street was broken into between 2.30pm and 2.45pm.

An Alba DVD player, freeview box and CDs and DVDs tpgether with cash and a wallet were stolen from a first floor flat in Burrans Meadow between 5.30pm and midnight in the second burglary.

A 76-year-old pensioner had his wallet with £30 stolen after burglars distracted him in his home in Cross Street in the third incident which took place between 7.15pm and 7.30pm.

He allowed a man, in his late teens to early twenties, into his home to use the phone after he told him his car had broken down.

While the man was on the phone the pensioner's wallet with the cash was stolen by an accomplice.

Police said they are looking for a male, of medium build, short black spiky hair, and wore a short sleeved white shirt and dark trousers in connection with the Cross Steret burglary.
