A body has been found in a search for a missing woman.

Rachel Jackson, from Greater Manchester, had visited some friends in Preston when she went missing on Friday, March 31.

Yesterday, Saturday, police confirmed they had found a body of a women in Avenham Park in Preston.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Last night, a spokesperson for the police said: "Officers searching for a missing woman have sadly found a body.

"Rachel Jackson, 38, from Manchester, was reported missing from the Wadham Road area of Avenham, Preston, yesterday (Friday, March 31).

"Earlier today (Saturday, April 1) police found the body of a woman in Avenham Park.

"While she has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be Rachel. Her next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to HM Coroner.

"Our thoughts are with Rachel’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time."
