A council has fully refurbished a play area, creating a fantastic state-of-the-art space for residents to enjoy.
Milestone Meadow in Chorley underwent a £90,000 investment with brand new play equipment for ages two to 12.
Construction on the play area began in November 2022 following a consultation in April 2022.
Final designs for the play area were made following this and feedback from residents expressed a wish to retain the basket swing, ball shoot and climbing net items of existing play equipment and for new equipment to be installed, particularly a slide, swings and goal end, which is what was delivered.
On Tuesday, Chorley councillors joined pupils from Euxton Primrose Hill Primary School to help officially unveil the newly refurbished play area by cutting the ribbon.
Executive member for planning and development at Chorley Council, Councillor Alistair Morwood said: “We are delighted to have delivered yet another fantastic facility to the residents of Chorley.
“This much-loved play area has been transformed into something a wide variety of ages can enjoy.
“I urge everyone to come down and make use of this brilliant play area”.
The new equipment includes a climbing frame, slides, swing sets and seesaws.
Residents also asked for the play area to see provision made for dog walking and for this to be kept separate to the play space. A brand-new path is due to be installed in the coming weeks.
Linked to Chorley Councils’ green agenda and initiatives to improve biodiversity in the borough, trees have been planted to form an avenue along the boundary of the site and a native hedgerow to add colour, food for birds, nectar for insects and provide a safe visual barrier to guide users up the path rather than cutting up the grass banking.
