Bouquets of flowers have been placed in front of a house where a woman was found dead in Blackburn at the weekend.

Floral tributes have been left at the front of the house in Primrose Terrace where officers found the body of Charlotte Wilcock.

Police were called to the street at about 7.55am on Saturday (March 4) to reports of a serious assault but they tragically found the 31-year-old's body when they arrived.

Anthony William Stinson, 30, of Queen Victoria Street, Mill Hill, has been charged with Ms Wilcock’s murder and made a brief appearance before Blackburn Magistrates' Court on Monday morning, speaking only to confirm his name, age and address.

Stinson is next due to appear in Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police were still in Primrose Terrace this morning (March 7) with both the front and the back of the street remaining behind a cordon.

Outside the house where Ms Wilcock was found, bunches of flowers have been placed.

Speaking on Sunday, Cllr Julie Gunn, who represents Mill Hill and Moorgate said: "It's a tragedy. My thoughts and heart are going out to the victim's family and loved ones."

Fellow ward councillor, Jim Smith, added: “I would just like to say my thoughts are with the family of the lady who has died.”

Three more men, aged 32 and 24 from Blackburn, and aged 31 from Clitheroe, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have since been released under investigation.

Lancashire Police also disclosed it has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in relation to the incident.
