Crowds of people turned out to see the Winter Bloom Light Parade in Colne at the weekend.

The festivities kicked off in Colne town centre on Saturday (March 4) and included live music, markets stalls, face painting and more.

The highlight of the day was a light parade which kicked off at 6.30pm. It began near St John’s Church on Albert Street and ended on Hartley Square.

The parade, organised and created by arts organisation the Handmade Parade, saw giant lanterns paraded down the streets.

A giant rabbit, puppets, illuminated roses and a large moon were just some of the creations on display.

A spokesperson for Handmade Parade said: “That was a load of fun and it’s  great to hear how much [everyone] enjoyed the whole day. Keep the pictures and chat coming, please!”

Videographer Howard Greenwood managed to capture some highlights of the procession and it truly looked like a fantastic day for all of the family.

Commenting on the footage one person said:  “I just love Colne so much for doing things like this. Absolutely fantastic job for all that took part.”

Another said: “That looks beautiful and so much fun.”

Ther was something for all of the family at the festival to enjoy, including a bird of prey  a ‘Whimsical Window Walk’ filled with art installations and live music from the Colne Blues Society.
