Children learnt how to support their mental health and wellbeing after they were visited by a Blackburn author and motivational speaker.

John Magee is the founder of Kindness Matters and has a publishing deal with Bloomsbury.

The 'Happy Tank' book teaches children how to form Happy Habits and how to learn how to self-regulate.

John said: “Since lockdown children have struggled massively with their mental health and well being

“The book is written with scientific research in the field of positive psychology.”

John is visiting primary schools throughout Blackburn and Darwen to deliver talks and was at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School recently.

Lancashire Telegraph:

John said: “Thanks to all the Key Stage 2 children I worked with during the lockdown that helped me develop The Happy Tank book; it was your openness about your worries and anxieties and your desire to learn how to self-regulate that the book has been written for children by children.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Headteacher at the school, Claire Gammon, said: “Today has been outstanding, and the book is absolutely brilliant.

“The Happy Tank gives children practical tools to improve their mood and, more importantly, teaches them to self-regulate.

“The six steps shared in the book provide the children with positive habits that will stay with them for life which is crucial to positive mental health; happy children = children learning.”
