Police in Chorley arrested a man following the discovery of a large amount of cannabis plants.

The discovery was made on Saturday following a t tip-off from members of the public.

Police obtained a warrant to enter the property after being told that a man had been growing cannabis and bypassed the electric meter in the process. A 42-year-old was later arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: “Thank you to the community for the vital information you provide us.

In a separate incident on Friday (February 17) officers arrested two men aged 27 and 34, following a spate of shoplifting in Chorley. 

One of the males was arrested having been linked to a rural burglary in Rivington. After being arrested the male made derogatory remarks about an officers religion and was also arrested for racially aggravated public order. 

Both men have been charged with the shoplifting offences and police said enquiries are ongoing into the burglary and the racially aggravated public order.
