If you are looking for a pet-friendly place to take your four-legged friend, then look no further than this hotel in Padiham.
The Lawrence Hotel, on Church Street, has been named Lancashire’s most dog-friendly business at the Lancashire Tourism Awards.
After speaking to hotel director Michael Huckerby it’s clear to see why the business scooped the award as the venue has pet-lovers at its heart.
Michael said: "Dogs are part of the family and be recognised as a venue that is leading the way in canine hospitality, as well as look after their owners, is fantastic.
“When we set up the business we knew we would be dog-friendly. I am quite shocked that some hotels don’t allow them.
“When you go away you should bring yourself and the people you care about – and that should include dogs.
“Guests say it’s amazing to have a high-end venue that is accepting of dogs."
The hotel even has its own resident dog, five-year-old Hetti the sprocker spaniel, who has become a local celebrity.
Michael said: “When we first moved to Padiham she escaped and the community turned out to look for her.
“A local councillor got on his bike and helped to look. A butcher and hairdresser shut their shops.
“She’s a bit of a local celebrity and everyone knows her.”
Dogs at the are allowed to roam and are even invited to breakfast and dinner, where a doggy menu is available.
Dogs have even been invited to wedding ceremonies that have been held at The Lawrence.
Michael said: “Dogs are welcome everywhere in the hotel and rooms are cleaned thoroughly afterwards.
“We’ve had dogs that are ringbearers at wedding ceremonies. We work with a dog chaperone company too, who stay upstairs with the dogs while you enjoy your night.
“Our next aim is to have a doggy wedding – that would be brilliant.”
Ideal for walks, the hotel is also situated near some dog walking hotspots such as Pendle Hill, Gawthorpe Hall and Memorial Park.
Michael said: “Pets are welcome anywhere in the hotel but outside we have some of the best dog walking areas in the country.
“Whether it’s a rugged walk up Pendle Hill or a walk filled with wildlife at Gawthorpe Hall, there’s something for everyone in the vicinity.”
