Almost £10,000 worth of equipment and machinery that was stolen from a farm in East Lancs has been found by police.

A horse trailer and a small digger, together worth around £9,500, were taken from a farm in Tockholes Road, close to the village of Tockholes just outside Blackburn last night.

It was noticed the items, a burgundy Ifor Williams horse trailer worth around £3,500 and a yellow 1825B Bobcat digger worth around £6,000, had been taken at around 6.40am this morning.

Becky Baxter, the owner of the items, said: "I'm just glad it's all in one piece. We don't think it's actually going to be useful so I think I'm going to end up having to go through the insurance to get a new one anyway. But it's just the morals.

"I work really hard for the nicer things in life like being able to transport my own horses and then people take them. It's just frustrating and it always seems to happen to the nicer people.

"But we've got back what we needed. It's probably not usable but it's better than it being missing and wondering 'is that my trailer?' when one goes past on the motorway!"

Neither of the items had any distinguishing features on them, but the trailer did have a number plate which could have been taken off.

Becky said the last time someone was on the yard was 11pm last night and as soon as the first person was on the yard this morning it was noticed.

She said she did not believe the trailer had been hooked up to a vehicle as the coupling mechanism was locked, and instead she believed it had been dragged onto the back of another trailer.

There was no CCTV on the farm but Becky was contacted by the police and told they have some footage from through Tockholes at around 11.10pm.

She added that another farm further up the road had been hit last week and that farms were now a new thing to be targeted.

Lancashire Police has been approached for further comment.
